"Years ago, I was wondering why my electric bill was so high. The wife called the electric company for answers and they went over a list of ENERGY HOGS. We rarely used our window mounted air conditioner, but the DEHUMIDIFIER in the basement was always running. She stated that could be the main culprit. We shut it off and the savings were approx. $40 a month! But I've had to live with a smelly wet/humid basement ever since. Last week, my wife pulled a 3-pack package of DAMP RID that she got from her sister (she noticed how bad it was down the cellar) that we hung in my wet/humid/smelly basement. I told her it was a waste of money, and "those things" won't work. I WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNED AT THE RESULTS ! Though it's not going to stop water from getting into my basement (NOT Damp Rids' job, but mine), The musty smell has been replaced with a mild fresh scent that's not "perfumey" at all.
