DampRid was founded in 1948 as Vapor Products, Inc., in Orlando, Florida.   In the beginning, DampRid’s products were sold exclusively in Florida department stores. 

1960 marked a major turning point when DampRid began selling its products in other retail outlets, including grocery and drugstores.  This move spurred the rapidly accelerated growth pattern that continues today.  As of 2005, DampRid products are available in over 25,000 retail outlets in 24 countries worldwide. 

Through the years, DampRid has introduced a number of products designed to absorb moisture and eliminate odors, continually expanding and improving its line.  The company’s original product, Mildewcide, was replaced in 1972 by the Refillable Room Freshener.  MagicDisk debuted in 1956.  Today's line of DampRid products control moisture in all areas of your home, vacation home, cars, boats and RV's.

DampRid strives to be responsive and ships products within 24 hours to communities hurt by floods or hurricanes.  DampRid works to remove excess humidity and needs no electricity for those without power

DampRid is now a division of W.M. Barr and is located in Memphis, Tennessee.
